The Siberian Radioheliograph (SRH) — Russia’s latest megascience-class instrument — has delivered unprecedented data on a rare phenomenon: an extremely short and bright solar microflare, opening up broad opportunities for studying the Sun’s hot atmosphere. Comprising 528 antenna posts, this installation forms part of the upcoming National Heliogeophysical Complex of RAS at the observatories of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS. Research conducted with SRH was highlighted among the standout accomplishments of Russian scientists at the General Meeting of RAS Members in May 2026. In an interview with Scientific Russia, leading researchers from ISTP SB RAS discussed the key findings enabled by the radioheliograph and outlined future applications for the technology.
