IAGA/ICMA/SCOSTEP 10th Workshop on Vertical Coupling in the Atmosphere-Ionosphere system	June 10-15, 2026 Taiwan, National Central University	Abstract submission deadline: April 15, 2026	Подробнее	The Earth’s atmosphere represents a very complicated sensitive system that is highly variable on different time and space scales. The manner in which coupling phenomena take place due to varying energy inputs from the Sun and from the lower atmosphere is a question that is yet to be understood. This long running workshop addresses the wide range of phenomena that determine, control, and influence the coupling processes in the atmosphere. We welcome both theoretical and experimental results from the lower atmosphere through the upper atmosphere and magnetosphere, covering dynamical, chemical, and electrodynamical coupling processes of natural and anthropogenic sources, as well as presentations on new observational and modelling initiatives, instruments, and tools. This workshop will serve as forum for new results to be presented and discussed, tutorials on selected themes of interest, working group discussions on next steps, and some social activities.

This conference brings together researchers, engineers, educators, science communicators, students from all fields of Earth and planetary sciences and related disciplines worldwide together with the interested public members. It serves as a forum for sharing research findings from fundamental Earth and planetary science studies to research addressing global environmental issues and the relationship between human society and Earth and planetary sciences, and for fostering dialogue toward multidisciplinary collaboration. Previous JpGU-AGU joint meetings were held in 2017 and 2020. These conferences served as platforms to strengthen collaboration between participants from around the world and those conducting research primarily in Japan, while also providing excellent opportunities to initiate new collaboration. To build a future where human society can be sustainable, and where future generations can thrive in an environment richer than ever before, we must not only deepen our research but also foster mutual understanding, share challenges, and construct a vision for the future through intensive communication with local communities and citizens. We hope the JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting will provide new insights, contribute to the further advancement of Earth and planetary sciences and related fields, and offer an invaluable opportunity for learning and growth for all participants. Подробнее	The school will serve as a comprehensive introduction to the importance of multipoint measurements in the understanding of heliospheric space plasma physics from the Sun to the Earth’s magnetospheric environment. Multipoint measurements are indeed crucial for investigating phenomena such as magnetic reconnection, plasma turbulence, shock wave formation, and particle acceleration, as well as, the three-dimensional structure of the solar corona, tracking the evolution of solar eruptions, and understanding the initiation and propagation of solar wind streams, which all play central roles in the dynamics of the solar and heliospheric plasmas as well as its interaction with planetary magnetospheres. This course aims at providing an overview of the importance of multipoint measurements in studying space plasma processes occurring in the heliosphere to establish a critical connection between the data from future missions and complementary data from next-generation ground-based observatories. The school is addressed to graduate and PhD students, young scientists as well as undergraduates in heliophysics, space plasma physics, planetary sciences, or related fields. Early-career stage professionals are invited to apply as well.

It is an international meeting organised annually within the European Region in collaboration with prominent members of the European space weather and space climate community. It began as a forum for the European Space Weather community and has since grown into an international event with global attendance. ESWW2026 will once again bring together the diverse groups in Europe working on different aspects of Space Weather and Space Climate — including scientists, engineers, satellite operators, power grid technicians, communication and navigation specialists, aviation experts, space weather service providers, and STEM practitioners. The conference remains highly interdisciplinary and promotes the exploration of new technologies and approaches such as artificial intelligence and machine learning in a space weather context. ESWW also welcomes space weather end users — groups and organisations making use of space weather data and services. Fields include spacecraft operation and design, telecommunications, navigation, power distribution, pipeline management, aviation safety, rail systems, insurance, civil contingency planning, and scientific research. The ESWW is an excellent opportunity to meet people, exchange knowledge and ideas, discuss the latest solar and space weather developments, understand their effects on Earth and technology, and collaborate on strategies to mitigate their impact. Theme This year’s overall theme for the ESWW is “Data-driven and physics-based cross-scale space weather”. It highlights recent advances in understanding space weather processes across multiple scales — from the large-scale dynamics of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) to the small-scale regions where energy is dissipated in the solar wind and Earth’s near-space environment.
