Gennady Krasnikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), presented the most important results achieved by Russian scientists in 2025. One of them is ours! Speaking about the achievements in physics, Krasnikov announced that at the National Heliogeophysical Complex (based at by the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the RAS), trial tests have been completed and design parameters have been achieved for one of the first 'mega science' instruments \u2014 the multi-wave Siberian Radioheliograph. The instrument, which comprises over 500 antennas with mirrors ranging from 1 to 3 meters in diameter, is unique in the world for the width of its frequency band combined with high spatial and temporal resolution. The measurements have provided new insights into the nature of solar activity. \"Thanks to solar observations conducted during the antenna array testing phase, a pulsed source was discovered in the solar corona measuring 2.2 arcseconds with a record effective brightness temperature of up to 60 billion kelvin,\" said the head of the Academy. He also noted that construction is currently underway for the second phase of this complex, which will include a solar telescope-coronagraph, a lidar, a heating facility, a data center, and a radar system. President of RAS also drew special attention to the simultaneous development of the scientific space program, which envisions creating a satellite constellation to study solar-terrestrial interactions and space plasma.
